Frequently Asked Questions

Hi there! We created this page to hopefully answer many of your questions and requests and direct you to the desired resource, program, or person! Please check out the information below for the answers that you’re looking for and if you don’t find it feel free to reach out to us directly.

Who is Kind Space for?

Great question! Kind is a community space for two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bi, pan, trans, gender-diverse, queer, questioning, ace, intersex, etc. (2SLGBTQ+) folks of all ages.

Do I need to register/is there a cost to participate?

Mostly no, but sometimes.

All of our peer groups and the majority of our events are free and you don’t need to register in advance. Sometimes we do offer program that requires registration if we’re running a skill development workshop or a closed, intentional space. Rarely there is a cost to any service or program we offer and when there is it is sliding scale.

Do you accept book/clothing/household item donations?

No. We are at capacity for clothing and book donations. However, if you have storage bins or selves that you would like to donate, we are in desperate need for those types of items.

I would like to volunteer, how do I do that?

That’s awesome! We would love to have you. Check out our newly updated volunteer page with the 5 easy steps about how to register to become a volunteer.

My organization/business is interested in working with Kind, how do we do that?

That’s great! We definitely want to know more about you and how we could possibily work together. We’re currently putting together a document that outlines our requirements for partnering. Send Carling an email (carling@kindspace.ca) to chat!

I would like to fundraise for you, what do I need to know?

Amazing! We’re putting together a fundraising guide to make this process easier for folks. Until then, send Carling an email (carling@kindspace.ca) with any questions you have!

Is this a space I can hangout in, even if I'm not "accessing" services?

Yes. Kind is a community space which means whenever the space is open you are welcome to come a chill in the back.

We do share the space with another organization so during the day we ask that folks hang out in the program room in the back and respect the people working in the open space at the front.

What are your operating hours?

Our hours are listed on the homepage and are updated when there are holidays. Generally we are open in the afternoon and evenings on weekdays and closed on the weekend. If you are looking to talk to one of the staff or board members, the best way to reach us is to email and schedule an appointment

It is after 6pm/the weekend, how do I get in the building?

To enter the building after 6pm or on weekends you will need to use the intercom and dial 401 to be buzzed in.

Does anyone ACTUALLY answer the phone?

Yes. It is rare to get us on the phone, though. Your best bet, if you’re able, is to send us an email or contact us through our contact form

Where can I find 'x' resource? Do you provide 'y' service?

We’re rebuilding our resource directory! We’re hoping to have it launched by the end of August with an easy to navigate format and search function. This question will be updated once that is complete. Until then, reach out to the staff and we’ll do out best to direct you.

I have a resource project, can I promote it through Kind?

Research project must go through a vetting process before using any Kind resources or accessing our space. Contact Sloane (sloane@kindspace.ca) and fill out the research form

Who do I contact for media interviews?

We’re pretty selective on the interviews we do. If you would like to interview someone from Kind about a specific program or event send us an email

Does Kind only do peer groups?

No! We do a lot more than peer groups. Check out our calendar for all the different events coming up!
