Kind Space is announcing a “Decompression Session” series for 2SLGBTQIA+ People who were negatively impacted, and affected by the convoy that occupied the city of Ottawa (especially the downtown core) during the month of February 2022. This series is funded by the United Way East Ontario.
BIPoC-only: April 9th
This session is for 2SLGBTQIA+ Indigenous Peoples, Black Peoples, and People of Colour. These sessions will be co-facilitated by Sharp Dopler, N’nerjie, Noah Inniss-Parchment, and Lukayo Estrella. There will be breakout rooms for Indigenous folks only and Black folks only. There will also be opportunities for singing, dancing, energy work and readings, and Indigenous wellness ceremonies.
The dates is Saturday, April 9th, 12-3pm (Hybrid: In-person & Online). The In-Person will have a maximium of 30 person limit.
General session: April 10th
The General Decompression Session on Sunday, April 10th, noon-3pm is for 2SLGBTQIA+ peoples of all ages. This session will be co-facilitated by Carling Miller, Lukayo Estrella, Alysha Lafleur, and Nicholas Lefebvre. There will be opportunities for dancing, music, colouring, poetry, and other arts-based activities.
The dates is Sunday, April 10th, 12-3pm (Hybrid: In-person & Online). The In-Person will have a maximium of 30 person limit.
Trans-only: April 25th
These sessions are for trans people of all ages in unceded Algonquin territory (Ottawa region). The trans only decompression sessions will be co-facilitated by Jade Byard Peek, Lukayo Estrella, and Alysha Lafleur, and will occur on two different dates and times to increase accessibility to the sessions.
